Our refrigerators seem to be really badly designed for storing the quantity
of fresh fruits and vegetables one needs to follow a vegetarian diet with
5-9 servings/day of furits/veggies. The tiny crisper drawers are really
inadequate, and the shelves seem designed for containers, bottles, and
cartons rather than, say, a large head of cabbage and broccoli and beets
and fresh greens and corn on the cob for two people (to pick an actual
example). After shopping today for just a few days' worth of recipes, the
refrigerator was stuffed in a really inefficient way.
What solutions have people found for storing and keeping really fresh a
large quantity of fruits/veggies? Are the certain kinds of refrigerators
that are better than others?
