Japanese sweet rice

To the person who asked about Japanese sweet rice, it is not sweet. It is very
sticky, short grain rice. It is used to make Mochi (which is pounded and
steamed sweet rice, often with sugar added to make the Mochi sweet). If the
mochi is filled with red bean paste, some call it Omanju (sp?). You can also
buy powdered sweet rice, called Mochiko, in the stores and make Mochi with this.
It has a slightly different texture than traditional mochi. Karen
