A lot of people are allergic to gluten- a substance found in wheat. I
get nervous tensions, insomnia, and other symptoms when I eat a lot of
it. McDougall recommends somewhat limiting intake of gluten, even for
people who aren't allergic to it, since it inhibits digestion. Perhaps
bread in particular was mentioned by the other listmembers since it
usually has refined flour, milk, eggs, honey, and additives in it.
