buttermilk substitutes

<<Is there any way to turn non-fat milk into buttermilk -- for cooking
purposes?>>

Yes, there is :). For one cup, measure 1 T. vinegar into your measuring
cup and fill it with skim milk to measure 1 c. total. Let it sit for 5
minutes, then use in recipe as buttermilk. There is also powdered
buttermilk (in baking section of market), but I'm not sure at this moment
whether or not it's fatfree.

Hope this helps,
Katja
