I've been following this thread with some interest, cause I use a whole lot
of chopped onions all the time in my cooking - mostly Indian food.
What I've found works best for me is to chop 'em wearing contacts. I can chop
the most pungent onions with contacts on, and no tears.
Of course for those lucky ones, who have 20/20 vision, any of the other ideas
may work - I've occasionally soaked peeled onions in cold water before chopping,
refrigerated onions for a while before chopping - with limited success.
Best of all, get someone else to do it for you! :-) :-)
