Recipe: Brown Oaten Bread

Thought y'all might enjoy this hearty, richly textured quick bread. We
tried it out on friends last night--everyone gave it a big thumbs up. We
even made it into dessert by putting some pear preserves on top. Mmmmm!!!
(Now I have to learn how to make pear preserves!)

Credit Houston Chronicle reprinting a recipe from Diane Murrell, who got
the recipe from a friend from Zimbabwe.

NOTES : Dense and nicely textured!
Makes a rather flat loaf, although it crested. Try a thinner loaf pan?
