These are the "gadgets" I use all the time in my kitchen.
zyliss garlic press (the best!)
OXO? (the soft grip) veggie peeler
pyrex glass measuring cup with grater lid (grates right into the cup.
It has juicer lids too, but I don't like those as much)
ceramic "grater" dish for ginger (has little bumps on dish that grate
a little ginger wonderfully well)
Braun handblender (well, I thought it was a toy until I finally got one..
great for making smoothies, pureeing soup in the pot, etc etc)
Pampered Chef plastic spoon/spatula combo (really heat resistant so you
can mix/cook/scrape with it and then throw it in the dishwasher)
Strangely (being Japanese and all) I don't like cooking with chopsticks :-)
I'll have to go find some plastic cutting surfaces, they sound really
useful. I have an "attached to counter" cutting board that is great
most of the time (no sliding) but horrible to cleanup when chopping
juicy things like tomatoes.
