I don't use the pressure cooker very often, but have never put oil in with
beans. Have never cooked grains in it. Both my pressure cookers are old - one
is 23 years old and the other I inherited from my husband's grandmother. My
mother cooks with a pressure cooker a lot and doesn't use oil. I am always
careful not to fill it past the fill line. I have been told you should soak the
beans first, sometimes I do, sometimes not. They do seem to foam more if they
haven't been soaked.
