Fava Beans?

I just bought Jay Solomon's Lean Bean Cuisine, and there are several recipes
I would like to try that call for fava beans. I can't find 'em anywhere!
Does anyone know of a source? I've tried my local supermarket (Dominick's,
in the Chicago area, now part of Safeway) and Whole Foods, and cannot find
them either canned or dried. And no one seems to have heard of them.
Furthermore, Solomon differentiates between European fava beans and Egyptian
ones--says the Egyptian ones are smaller and more globe-shaped. What would
make the best substitute, or where can I find these elusive little critters?
Thanks!
