I could use butter beans in their place, or maybe almost any kind of beans.
The prepared dish you described sounds like exactly the recipe I had in mind
to try--same words, different transcription of the Arabic. The recipe
called for a hard-boiled egg sort of "mashed" into the dish of beans--I
don't exactly picture it, but the taste combination sounded pretty good, so
thought I'd experiment.
