My favourite way of using molasses is putting a heaping teaspoon in a
cup of hot water for a tasty hot drink -- really great for camping
trips. But the way I use it the most is in my quick barbeque sauce.
Quick Barbeque Sauce
3/4 c. ketchup
2 heaping T. molasses
2 heaping T. sugar
2 heaping T. dijon mustard
(1/2 t. hot sauce - optional
(1/2 t. onion flakes - optional
(1/4 t. garlic powder - optional)
(2 dashes liquid smoke - optional)
I put these all into my measuring cup, then stir until well mixed.
This is great poured over baked m**t loaf (substituting shredded seitan,
reconstituted TVP, and/or mashed tofu for ground round) before baking.
Pour over drained canned beans and heat until sauce is bubbly for really
tasty and quick baked beans.
This is also the sauce I use for seitan 'ribs'...just dunk rib-shaped
seitan strips in the sauce and bake for 45 minutes aat 325 degrees, turning
frequently and brushing with more sauce.
