Barley Mushroom Soup

6 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup barley
1 medium onion -- chopped
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon dried parsley
2 teaspoons dill weed
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
1/8 teaspoon wasabi powder
1/2 pound fresh mushrooms -- sliced
2 cups shredded cabbage
Place the water, barley, onion and seasonings in a large pot. Cover and
cook over medium heat for 30 minutes. Add the mushrooms and cabbage and
cook for another 30 minutes.
