Noel,
I don't have a Japanese rice cooker. I have an Oster veggie
steamer/rice cooker. Is this what you are describing? It has two see
through plastic baskets that stack on top of each other and they go on a
base that has a timer. I fill the base with water, set the basket or
baskets on the base (with food in them of course) and start the timer.
It has a separate plastic bowl that I can put in the basket, fill with
brown rice and water, and steam it in 50 minutes.
I have been wondering if anyone has tried cooking any grain besides rice
in one of these. I doubt beans would work--anyone know? It would be
nice to get some more use out of it.
