soup, soup, wonderful soup

This one is great too. It's from a friend of mine,  slightly adapted of

Bean Soup
1/2 cup barley		
1/4 cup pastina
1 pound mixed dried beans ( I use canned if there is little time)
1 chopped onion
juice of 1 lemon
2 to 4 chopped carrots
one 28 oz can tomatoes
1 cup chopped celery
2 tablespoons Worchestershire sauce
1 tablespoon dried basil
1 to 2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 to 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper

Soak beans overnight, drain. Cover and simmer  in a large pot for 1 hour in 3
quarts veggie broth. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer for 2 hours.
