Grits are a great lowfat dish. They're usually served with butter or
margarine but not cooked with it, so ask that the butter be held. Seasoned
with pepper they're a pretty good breakfast with a slice of toast. (If
you've had polenta, you've basically had a firmer version of grits.) Per
cup: 146 calories, .5 g fat.
I live in Columbia, SC. Let me know if you're headed this way and I'll
give you some restaurant suggestions.
There's a great vegan Chinese restaurant in Houston called Wonderful
Vegetarian Restaurant at 7549 Westheimer. (At least it was still there
when I last visited Houston.) It has a great vegan buffet lunch--simply
amazing.
