For Amy,
A few ideas for crisp, crunchy, veggie breakfast -
Try these few combos :
Mung bean sprouts ( crisp, light, low cal 1 cup-30 calories)
shredded carrot or daikon radish or both
chopped red pepper
chopped red onion
sliced jalepenos ( if you like )
pinto or kidney or black beans
Toss all together in the amounts you desire with your favorite fat free
dressing - a squeeze of lemon or fresh orange is good here too ( along with
your favorite dressing )
refrigerate 2 hours or overnight to blend flavors before eating.
Shredded carrot
Crushed pineapple with juice
A handful of raisins
About 1/2 cup of orange juice - (more or less)
pinch cinnamon
pinch nutmeg
Mix all and stir in enough old fashioned uncooked oatmeal to soak up the
juice - the longer it sits, the more juice the oats will absorb -
This is delicious ! Top with sliced banana if desired.
You can vary this using different grains ( such as cooked rice, bulgur,
raw millet - use your imagination and your taste buds - Experiment ! )
Also, check out some of John Mcdougall recipes on the net - he has many
quick, easy to prepare fatfree salad recipes that rae tasty combinations.
