To the person interested in nutritional info on taro (dasheen, etc):
Here is what I found in the "Corine T. Netzer Encyclopedia of
Food Values":
Taro
raw, 1 lb untrimmed= 419 cal, .8g fat, 5.9g prot,
sliced, 1/2cup= 56 cal, .1g fat, .8g prot
cooked, 4oz = 161 cal, .1g fat, 1.6g prot
(I like this book because it gives the nutritional info
in several diff ways and measurements!)
There was also info on taro leaf and taro shoots (very low cal,
low fat, similar to spinach or other green leafy veg)
