Usually basmati means white basmati. Brown basmati takes as long as
regular brown rice -- 45 - 50 minutes, approx. White takes much less
time, perhaps only 20.
They taste totally different, though, so it's worth your time to
experiment with them both and see which you like better, then cook with
that one. I use brown in some things and white in others, based on the
taste and texture differences.
