Pickled Garlic?

My yoga instructor just made me a gallon of this wonderful 
preserved garlic.  She combines soy sauce, garlic cloves 
and a variety of herbs.  and then she does some stuff... 
 I've tried to get the recipe from her, but she says it is 
too hard--lots of cooking, and cooling and takes her weeks.

Anyone have any recipes?
